Why You’ll Love Echinocereus Grusonii:
Compact and Unique: This small yet striking cactus features a round, ribbed form with sharp, dense spines that add an architectural element to your collection.
Rare and Collectible: Echinocereus Grusonii is a highly sought-after species, making it an excellent addition for both beginner and advanced collectors.
Low Maintenance: Like most cacti, this species is easy to care for and thrives with minimal attention, making it perfect for indoor and outdoor displays.
Care Guide:
Lighting Needs:
Echinocereus Grusonii thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially in the morning or late afternoon, but avoid intense midday sun to prevent scorching. A sunny windowsill or a shaded outdoor area is ideal.
Watering Schedule:
Water sparingly and only when the soil is completely dry. During the active growing season (spring and summer), water every 2-3 weeks.
Reduce watering significantly in the fall and winter months when the cactus enters dormancy. Water once a month or less during this time.
Soil and Potting:
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix to avoid water retention and root rot. A mix of potting soil, coarse sand, and perlite or pumice is ideal.
Choose a pot with drainage holes to allow excess water to escape. Terracotta or clay pots are recommended for their breathability and moisture management.
Temperature Requirements:
This cactus thrives in warm temperatures between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C). It is not frost-tolerant, so be sure to bring it indoors or protect it during colder months.
Fertilizing:
Feed your Echinocereus Grusonii with a diluted cactus fertilizer once a month during the growing season. Avoid fertilizing during the dormant period.
Unboxing and Planting Instructions:
Carefully Unpack: Remove your cactus gently from its packaging, handling it carefully to avoid damaging the spines or roots.
Allow Acclimation: Let the plant rest in a shaded area for 1-2 days before planting to help it acclimate to its new environment.
Potting: Select a well-draining pot and fill it with cactus soil mix. Place the cactus in the center and backfill with soil, ensuring the base of the plant sits above the soil level.
Initial Watering: Wait 5-7 days before watering to allow the roots to settle and prevent any potential rot.

Upon receipt of plant – carefully open and remove plant from package. Cacti should be then placed on moist soil (it helps to create an indentation for the roots). Soil mix should be chunky, such as with the use of cactus soil that includes rocks, lyca balls, perlite, sand, and soil. Soil must be well draining. All containers for plants must have drainage holes. Cacti are best watered from the bottom when the top soil has dried out. Keep the soil moist, but not soaking, and never let them sit in standing water.
If your temperatures will be below 40 degrees, please consider adding on one of our $5 72 hour heat packs, available in our store.
