B52 — Gymnocalycium mihanovichii Clone Profile

B52 is a compact own-root clone with sharply sculpted, knuckled ribs and a smoky peach-to-olive variegated body that reads almost molten.
B52 stands out immediately for its heavy, sculpted rib geometry. The body is compact and low, but each tuberculate rib rises into blunt, angular peaks that give the plant a rugged, almost armored silhouette. Across those ridges, the color shifts dramatically: warm peach, apricot, and pinkish orange sit over deep olive-green to dusky, near-charcoal sections, creating a moody, heat-hazed contrast rather than a clean striped look. The skin appears smooth and slightly satiny, which makes the faceted rib surfaces feel even more pronounced. This clone also shows a clumping habit in the current plant, with numerous small offsets collecting around the base and flanks to form a dense, irregular colony. Spination is light and fine, leaving the body pattern and rib architecture fully visible. Sourced from Boonsamai through Wikki in Thailand, B52 has the kind of visual weight collectors tend to remember: compact, brooding, and richly banded, with a distinctly sculptural presence on its own roots.
