Season — Gymnocalycium mihanovichii Clone Profile

Season stands out with sharply sculpted ribs, smoky charcoal banding, and a warm flushed base that gives the body a dramatic, layered look.
Season is a compact own-root Gymnocalycium mihanovichii from Boonsamai in Thailand, sourced through Wikki, and it carries an unusually moody palette for the species. The body shows a low, squat form with strongly cut, angular ribs, each segment washed in muted green and overlaid with broad charcoal to deep plum-toned banding. Near the base, the color breaks into warmer coral-red to pinkish blushes, creating a striking stacked effect from crown to lower body.
What makes Season memorable is the contrast between structure and surface. The ribs rise in crisp, geometric peaks, while the epidermis reads matte and finely textured rather than glossy. Small, pale woolly areoles and short, fine spines keep the silhouette clean, letting the rib pattern and dark zoning do most of the visual work. It is a clone with a distinctly graphic presence—brooding, architectural, and immediately legible even at a small size.
