Takashi — Gymnocalycium mihanovichii Clone Profile

Takashi is a compact own-root mihanovichii with dark green ribs lit by salmon-red striping and warm yellow marbling below.
Takashi stands out through contrast. The body is a deep, matte green, broken by narrow salmon to red bands that ride the rib crests and spill toward the flanks, while softer yellow variegation pools around the lower body. The effect is graphic rather than diffuse: sharp color lanes, dark intervening panels, and bright white woolly areoles that punctuate the surface like stitched points. The plant holds a squat globose form on its own roots, with strongly sculpted ribs that rise into angular, almost faceted peaks. Fine brown spines stay light and spare, leaving the rib architecture and color pattern fully visible. In this presentation, Takashi has a particularly memorable look from above, where the rib-top striping converges into a starry crown of red, green, cream, and white.
