Care Guide
1. Light Requirements
Bright, Indirect Light: Place your Ariocactus Fissuratus “Godzilla” where it receives plenty of filtered sunlight—an east or west-facing window is ideal. A few hours of mild direct sun (morning or late afternoon) is beneficial, but protect it from intense midday rays.
2. Watering Schedule
Sparingly & Infrequently: In spring and summer (active growth), water only when the soil is fully dry—about every 2–3 weeks. Cut back significantly in cooler months, watering once a month or less to prevent rot. Overwatering is the biggest threat to Ariocactus roots.
3. Soil & Potting
Well-Draining Cactus Mix: Use a soil blend specifically made for cacti, containing perlite or pumice to ensure proper aeration.
Small Pot Preference: Choose a pot just slightly larger than the root system, with drainage holes to let excess water escape. Terracotta pots help wick away moisture more effectively.
4. Temperature & Environment
Warm & Dry Climate: Prefers temperatures from 65°F to 85°F (18°C–29°C). Avoid exposing it to frost or drafts under 50°F (10°C).
Good Airflow: While not humidity-sensitive, providing a well-ventilated area helps keep the plant healthy and discourages fungal issues.
5. Fertilizing
Light Feeding: During spring and summer, use a diluted cactus fertilizer monthly to support steady growth. Pause feeding in fall and winter when growth naturally slows.
Unboxing & Planting Instructions
Carefully Unbox: Gently remove your Ariocactus “Godzilla” from the packaging, handling by the base or root area rather than the tubercles.
Allow Acclimation: Place the cactus in a shaded spot for 1–2 days to recover from shipping stress before planting.
Planting: Select a pot with drainage holes, fill with cactus mix, and position the cactus so its base is just above the soil line. Backfill gently without burying the plant’s main body.
Initial Watering: Wait about a week after potting before watering for the first time. This grace period allows any minor root damage to heal and reduces the chance of rot.

Upon receipt of plant – carefully open and remove plant from package. Cacti should be then placed on moist soil (it helps to create an indentation for the roots). Soil mix should be chunky, such as with the use of cactus soil that includes rocks, lyca balls, perlite, sand, and soil. Soil must be well draining. All containers for plants must have drainage holes. Cacti are best watered from the bottom when the top soil has dried out. Keep the soil moist, but not soaking, and never let them sit in standing water. If your temperatures will be below 40 degrees, please consider adding on one of our $5 72 hour heat packs, available in our store.
