Care Instructions:
Lighting Needs:
This cactus thrives in bright, indirect light. Place it in a well-lit spot where it can receive filtered sunlight. An east or west-facing window is ideal, providing enough light to maintain its vibrant patterns without risking sunburn.
Watering Schedule:
Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. During the growing season (spring and summer), water every 2-3 weeks. In the fall and winter, reduce watering to once a month or less, as the plant goes into dormancy.
Temperature Requirements:
Keep your Astrophytum Asterias ‘Kikko Lizard Skin’ in temperatures between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C). It is not frost-tolerant, so protect it from temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
Soil and Potting:
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix, preferably one enriched with perlite, pumice, or coarse sand. A loose, airy mix helps prevent root rot and promotes healthy growth.
Choose a pot with drainage holes to allow excess water to escape. A terracotta pot is recommended, as it helps absorb excess moisture and improves airflow around the roots.
Unboxing and Planting Instructions:
Upon receiving your Astrophytum Asterias ‘Kikko Lizard Skin’:
Unbox Carefully: Gently remove the cactus from its packaging to avoid damaging its delicate roots or body.
Prepare the Pot: Select a pot slightly larger than the cactus’s root ball and fill it with a well-draining cactus soil mix.
Planting: Position the cactus in the center of the pot and carefully backfill with soil, ensuring the base of the plant is above the soil line to prevent water from accumulating around the base.
Initial Watering: After planting, water lightly to settle the soil around the roots. Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again.

Upon receipt of plant – carefully open and remove plant from package. Cacti should be then placed on moist soil (it helps to create an indentation for the roots). Soil mix should be chunky, such as with the use of cactus soil that includes rocks, lyca balls, perlite, sand, and soil. Soil must be well draining. All containers for plants must have drainage holes. Cacti are best watered from the bottom when the top soil has dried out. Keep the soil moist, but not soaking, and never let them sit in standing water.
