Care Instructions:
Lighting Needs:
This cactus prefers bright, indirect sunlight. An east or west-facing window is ideal for indoor growing. It can handle some direct morning or late afternoon sunlight, but avoid intense midday sun to prevent sunburn.
Watering Schedule:
Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. During the growing season (spring and summer), water every 2-3 weeks. In the fall and winter months, reduce watering to once a month or less, as the cactus enters dormancy.
Temperature Requirements:
Coryphantha Elephantidens thrives in warm temperatures between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C). It is not frost-tolerant, so be sure to protect it from temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
Soil and Potting:
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix. A blend of potting soil, coarse sand, and perlite or pumice is ideal for preventing water retention and promoting healthy root growth.
Choose a pot with drainage holes to allow excess water to escape. Terracotta or clay pots are preferred for better moisture management.
Unboxing and Planting Instructions:
Upon receiving your Coryphantha Elephantidens:
Carefully Unbox: Gently remove the cactus from its packaging to avoid damaging its roots or tubercles.
Allow to Acclimate: Let the plant sit in a shaded area for a day or two before planting to acclimate it to its new environment.
Potting: Select a well-draining pot and fill it with cactus soil. Position the cactus in the pot so that the base sits slightly above the soil level.
Initial Watering: Wait 5-7 days before the first watering to allow the roots to settle. Then, water sparingly.

Soil mix should be chunky, such as with the use of cactus soil that includes rocks, lyca balls, perlite, sand, and soil. Soil must be well draining. All containers for plants must have drainage holes. Cacti are best watered from the bottom when the top soil has dried out. Keep the soil moist, but not soaking, and never let them sit in standing water. If your temperatures will be below 40 degrees, please consider adding on one of our $5 72 hour heat packs, available in our store.
