  1. Unpack Carefully
    Remove packing material gently and inspect your plant before potting.
  2. Let It Rest
    Shipping can be stressful for live plants. Give your cactus time to settle before watering.
  3. Pot in Dry, Well-Draining Soil
    Use a gritty cactus mix and avoid heavy, moisture-holding soil.
  4. Wait Before Watering
    Bare-root cactus usually need time to rest and begin re-rooting before their first watering.

Many cactus problems after shipping come from watering too soon. If your plant arrived bare root, recently lost roots, feels soft from shipping stress, or was packed during cold weather, it may need time to rest before receiving water.
